Major industrial projects seeking written guidance from Canada’s tax authority will get priority under a new measure aimed at speeding up construction, according to a budget update released Tuesday by the Department of Finance.
The Canada Revenue Agency’s Income Tax Rulings Directorate will prioritize requests for advanced income tax rulings related to “large-scale, nation-building projects,” the update said.
An advanced ruling is a type of guidance that outlines the CRA’s interpretation of how the Income Tax Act applies to a specific transaction or situation.
