Lawmakers in both chambers of Congress reintroduced legislation to extend the electric vehicle tax credit and remove a limitation that is already affecting Tesla and General Motors.
“Market-based incentives that help EVs compete with gas-powered cars and build clean energy infrastructure are not only good for our economy, they’re essential to our future,” Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), one of the lead sponsors of the bill, said in an April 2 news release. Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) is leading the effort in the House.
