Lawmakers Urge U.S. to Protest French Digital Profits Tax Plan

Two members of Congress renewed a call for the Trump administration to object to France’s proposed tax on company profits from digital business like advertising and sale of user data.

The administration should “take prompt and targeted action” in response to the proposed tax, which would hit the profits of U.S. tech multinationals and could encourage other countries to follow, Reps. Darin LaHood (R-Ill.) and Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.) said in a June 19 letter. LaHood and DelBene co-chair the Digital Trade Caucus.
