Liberty Global Denies $284 Million Tax Bill Tied to Deloitte

Liberty Global Inc. didn’t underpay its taxes through a series of Deloitte-advised 2018 transactions nicknamed “Project Soy,” the telecommunications company said in a court filing.

The company was responding Thursday to a Justice Department lawsuit seeking about $237 million in taxes and a more than $47 million penalty. The government has said it may adjust its view on the precise figures based on information it hopes to obtain through the court discovery process.
