Lighthizer Says U.S. to Impose Tariffs If Needed on Digital Tax

Robert Lighthizer, testifying to a House committee, says he doesn’t want other countries’ tax systems to treat American companies unfairly.

• The U.S. trade representative also called the WTO a “mess” and said it hasn’t served America or the global economy well, will veto any candidate to lead the Geneva-based trade body if he or she has expressed a “whiff” of anti-American sentiment in the past.
