The IRS has announced tax relief for individuals and businesses affected by seawater intrusion in parts of Louisiana, according to the agency Friday.
Taxpayers who reside in or have business in Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard parishes now have until Feb. 15, 2024, to file federal individual and business tax returns.
Also, penalties for the failure to make payroll and excise tax deposits that are due on or after Sept. 20, 2023, and before Oct. 5, 2023, will be abated as long as deposits are made by Oct. 5, 2023, the Internal Revenue Service said.
