Malaysia’s government is reviewing existing tax structure as part of reforms that may involve fresh levies, Zakiah Jaafar, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of Ministry of Finance said on Tuesday.

  • “Rest assured, we are very mindful of the impact and the timing,” she said in a panel discussion at a World Bank event. “The government would wait until the economy has fully stabilized before any major change takes place.”
  • Malaysia is also reviewing existing tax breaks with a view to make them more targeted and strategic in nature, she said.
