Massachusetts Restaurants to Catch a Break on Late Meals Tax

Massachusetts restaurants would not be charged penalties and interest for making late meals tax payments under a bill approved unanimously on Wednesday by the House.

The bill (H. 4767), which passed the lower chamber by 156-0 vote, would waive penalties and interest through the end of 2020. It now heads to the Senate, where Senate President Karen Spilka (D) has expressed her support for it, and it is expected to be approved.
