Consumers bringing a proposed class action against Meta Platforms Inc. over its collection of their sensitive financial data from tax-preparation websites failed in their bid to win class treatment for their privacy claims.

No named plaintiff had standing to bring claims based on Meta’s alleged collection of data from users of the TaxAct Inc. service, Judge P. Casey Pitts of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Monday.
