Mexico’s SAT Plans 1,200 Audits of Biggest Taxpayers Next Year

The Mexico tax office expects to audit 1,200 of its 15,873 major taxpayers in 2026 and 3,000 of its 115,467 foreign trade taxpayers, it said as it described high-risk behaviors that prompt consideration of audits.

Criteria for targeting taxpayers include abusing tax incentives, having recurring tax losses, and reporting inconsistencies between what’s imported or bought and what is sold, the Tax Administration Service, or SAT, said in a release, as it looks to build on recent successes in boosting revenue from audits.
