Minimum Tax Negotiations Must Conclude by November, EU Says

The EU has an “ultimate deadline” of November to negotiate a resolution for tensions surrounding the bloc’s minimum tax regime and the US’, according to a senior EU official.

The bloc hopes to find a permanent solution or at least a “temporary extension of the current situation so as to give breathing space to the discussions,” Benjamin Angel, the European Commission’s director for direct taxation, said Thursday at the International Tax Conference in Munich.

He said it was “impossible” to decide whether a temporary extension or a permanent resolution would be required at this point in the discussions.
