Mississippi AG Clarified Clarke County’s Power to Amend School Tax Levy Post-Fiscal Year Start

The Mississippi Attorney General (AG) issued a general opinion addressing a request from the Clarke County Board of Supervisors regarding a correction of an error in a consolidated school district tax levy. Due to an error, the millage set for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 for one of Clarke County’s consolidated school districts would generate significantly less funds than the amount requested by the school district.
