Mississippi DOR Announces Changes to Excise Tax Due Dates for Other Tobacco Products

The Mississippi Department of Revenue (DOR) issued a notice regarding changes to the due dates for excise tax on other tobacco products such as cigars, smoking tobacco, and chewing tobacco. Beginning July 1, 2025, Mississippi wholesalers and retailers receiving other tobacco products from out-of-state must pay the 15 percent excise tax by the 20th day of the following month when the products are sold or distributed. Consumers receiving untaxed other tobacco products from outside Mississippi must pay the tax within 48 hours of receipt. [Miss. Dep’t of Revenue, Notice 72-25-09, 06/19/25]
