Missouri Authorizes Certain Sales Tax Rate Increases

The Missouri Governor signed an act relating to first responders. The law includes: 1) authorizing additional cities to impose a sales tax rate of up to 0.5 percent for purposes of improving public safety; 2) extending the authorization for counties and municipalities to impose a local use tax if a local sales tax is imposed, to any political subdivision with the ability to impose a sales tax for emergency services; 3) authorizing ambulance and fire protection districts in certain counties to propose sales tax rates up to 1.0 percent; and 4) repealing the ambulance service reimbursement allowance tax exemption for ...
