Missouri’s proposed ballot measure allowing voters to weigh in on an eventual elimination of the income tax violates the state’s constitution, according to a new lawsuit.
The complaint, filed by a state taxpayer Wednesday in the Cole County trial court, alleges the ballot measure violates the Missouri Constitution’s provision that proposed amendments may only revise or propose one article at a time. The suit seeks to have the measure enjoined from being placed on the ballot.
