Drop in Morocco’s budget deficit from 4.3% in 2023 is mostly due to a surge in tax receipts, government spokesman Mustapha Baitas tells reporters.

  • Tax receipts rose by a net 35.9b dirhams in 2024, up 13.6% vs the previous year
  • Central government’s debt was 69.5% of GDP in 2024, unchanged versus 2023
