Self-employed individuals in Moscow will be eligible for tax refunds to help them weather the economic downturn from the coronavirus pandemic, according to an announcement.
The municipal authorities of Moscow said in a statement Monday that 495 million rubles ($6.79 million) will be returned to 194,000 people registered as self-employed in the city, who paid the “professional income tax” for 2019.
The Russian authorities have approved a series of measures aimed at supporting sectors hit hard by Covid-19, which includes a government-compiled list of industries that should receive tax exemptions such as hospitality, tourism, and entertainment.
