Multistate Tax Group Wants Uniformity for Remote Worker Rules

The Council on State Taxation is working with states to ease tax issues for long-term visitors, as there are differing rules about when to file an income tax return.

“We’re now working on a state by state basis to get some sort of uniform threshold to put 99% of traveling employees in compliance with the law,” said Douglas Lindholm, president and executive director at the Council on State Taxation, during a state and local tax forum Wednesday sponsored by Vanderbilt University Law School.
