Nevada Provides Certain Authorization for County Motor Fuel Tax Increases

The Nevada Governor signed a law concerning taxation. The law includes: 1) authorizing continued increases in certain county taxes on motor vehicle fuels and special fuels if an ordinance has two-thirds majority approval by Dec. 31, 2026; 2) prohibiting additional annual increases in these taxes if an ordinance is not adopted by Dec. 31, 2026; and 3) requiring a majority of the voters in the county at the general election in Nov. 2036 to authorize continued annual increases beginning on Jan. 1, 2037.
