New California Budget Offers Relief for Online Sellers

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a new state budget plan June 27 that offers relief for some online retailers, with his signature expected on a related bill to offer selective conformity to the 2017 federal tax law.

Newsom signed A.B. 74, the main bill that enacts a $215 billion budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1, and 15 related bills that make law changes necessary to carry out the main bill. One of the related bills makes tax policy changes, and another is on his desk.
