A new IRS tool will allow people who don’t normally file tax returns to submit information online so they can receive coronavirus stimulus payments.
The portal will request basic information, including Social Security numbers, names, addresses, and number of dependents. That will allow the government to confirm a non-filer’s eligibility for a payment, calculate the proper amount, and send the money to the right place, the agency said Friday in a news release. Entering bank account information will allow the IRS to directly deposit the payment into a person’s account, the agency said.
