The New York Governor Oct. 11 signed a law authorizing the assessor of the town of Brookhaven to accept an exemption application from the Jackey Foundation for property tax purposes. The law includes measures that: 1) if accepted, the application shall be reviewed as if it had been received on or before the taxable status date established for the tax rolls; 2) the assessor may make a correction to the 2016 through 2018 assessment rolls if the assessor finds that the foundation is entitled to the exemption; and 3) the town board of Brookhaven may provide a refund of paid ...
