The township of Lakewood is barred from using a property tax refund to offset a tax sale certificate that was invalid because the property was exempt, a New Jersey tribunal held Friday.
Lakewood sold a tax sale certificate currently redeemable at over $69,000 after Yeshiva Shvilay Hatalmud Inc. didn’t pay its property taxes for 2022 while it was still litigating for its exempt status.
