A Raleigh cardiologist has 15 years of unpaid taxes to catch up on, the IRS alleges.
The US filed suit to reduce to judgment $7.89 million in unpaid taxes against Dr. Franklin Wefald on March 13. The cardiologist’s outstanding balance includes unpaid taxes from the years 2007 through 2021, according to filings in US District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
A reduction to judgment means the government hopes to suspend the statute of limitations on a collections action if it believes the tax is recoverable.
