A former Raleigh, N.C., man has been charged with 27 counts of preparing and filing false tax returns and obstructing the IRS, the Justice Department announced Tuesday.
According to the DOJ, Jerome Osuamadi Nwabueze between 2018 and 2022 prepared and filed false tax returns for clients that reported wages, withholdings, business income, and expenses that were fabricated or inflated.
The DOJ said Nwabueze also prepared and filed false tax returns for himself that reported similar false items and omitted income he earned from preparing returns. These false returns also generated refunds for Nwabueze to which he was not entitled. ...
