Norway 2021 Oil, Gas Taxes Hit Record Amid Energy Crunch

Norway, the second biggest supplier of natural gas to Europe, expects 2021 taxes from oil and gas industry to reach a record of NOK295b ($33 billion), 159% more than previously expected, the Norwegian Tax Administration says in a statement.

  • Revised figures based on updated information from oil and gas companies
  • Increase due to “very high natural gas prices in second half,” the Tax Administration says
  • Previous record was in 2008 with NOK247b of taxes net of exploration refunds
