Norway endorsed a 26% reduction in an electricity tax as part of a revised 2025 national budget announced Thursday.
The reduction in the so-called electrical power tax from 0.1693 Norwegian krone ($0.016) per kWh to 0.1253 Norwegian krone per kWh would benefit both individual households and businesses.
- The reduction would take effect from July 1 if approved by the parliament.
- The government has further announced it would phase out, from Jan. 1, 2026, a small levy on electricity consumption that finances projects promoting Norway’s transition to a low-emission society.
