NY Education Agency Sheds Charter School Funding Formula Suit

A New York appellate court on Thursday backed the state’s funding calculation for New York City charter schools, which claim they were incorrectly given less money for tuition by the city.

The New York State Education Department “did not act arbitrarily or capriciously” when it calculated funding for New York City charter schools using a data set that was different than the one used to calculate funding for the city’s Department of Education, Justice Andrew Ceresi of the Supreme Court Third Appellate Department wrote.
