Last week’s cancellation of America’s leading advanced reactor project shouldn’t kill nuclear energy’s momentum as a climate and power grid reliability solution, US officials, lawmakers, and industry leaders insisted Monday during a conference in Washington.
But thorny policy and economic questions, such as Treasury tax credit guidance, further Congressional support for production of enriched fuel, finding a home for nuclear waste, and shifting public perception must be answered to advance the industry in the 21st century, according to speakers organized by the American Nuclear Society’s Winter Meeting.
