Online travel aggregator Orbitz isn’t subject to a Nevada hotel lodging tax because it doesn’t provide lodging services, a Nevada federal district court ruled.
The US District Court for the District of Nevada shut down a challenge from Clark County, Nev., which includes Las Vegas, that claimed Orbitz failed to pay taxes on revenue from the rental of “transient lodging,” established under state law that permits counties to levy their own transient lodging tax on hotel operators.
