The Oregon Supreme Court has rejected a CenturyLink subsidiary’s property tax appeal, ruling that a lower court correctly assessed the difference between the company’s value and the value of property under its control.

The court on Thursday supportedthe Oregon Tax Court’s decision to uphold the state Department of Revenue’s appraisal of Level 3 Communication LLC’s property through tax years 2014-2017. Taxes owed weren’t specified in the opinion. The high court rejected Level 3’s argument that Oregon law permits taxation only of a centrally assessed corporation’s property, and prevents taxing the company’s capacity for potential future assets.
