Preserve Nuclear Tax Credits, Power Companies Urge Lawmakers

Power companies and trade groups are urging Congressional leaders to preserve energy tax credits that help the nuclear industry as House Republicans inch closer to wrapping up negotiations on their signature tax legislation.

Lawmakers are considering repealing at least some of the energy tax credits in the 2022 tax-and-climate law to pay for extensions of tax cuts from the GOP’s 2017 law. The threat of repeals has set off a wave of defensive lobbying from the renewable energy industry.
