Property Tax Ballot Language Misleads Florida Voters, Suit Says

Ballot language putting Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) property tax cuts proposal in front of Florida voters in November is unconstitutionally biased and misleading, a lawsuit filed Thursday said.

The complaint challenges joint resolutions the state legislature passed June 2 that would allow voters to approve a constitutional amendment cutting residential property taxes.

The approved ballot title and summary are unconstitutional political endorsements and need to be redrafted neutrally under the state’s constitution, according to the suit filed by Florida not-for-profit Save Our Voters from Misleading Ballot Language Inc.
