Republicans Say Changing Tax Law Name Hones Campaign Message

When Republicans in Congress cleared the 2025 tax-and-spending law, they praised it as “The Big Beautiful Bill Act.” But as the midterms approach, they’ve pivoted to new branding.

A House Ways and Means subcommittee hearing on Wednesday was the latest example of Republicans referring to the law as the “working families tax cuts.” Lawmakers heard from a panel that saw benefits from provisions such as breaks on tipped income and adoption expenses.

Republicans say the new language, also reflected in campaign ads, is helpful for reminding voters of the specific provisions in the bill.
