‘Retail Glitch’ Fix Likely Coming Before Others, House Aide Says

A prominent error in the 2017 tax overhaul hitting restaurants and retailers is high on the list of technical corrections lawmakers intend to make to the law, but will still require some heavy negotiating, according to a top aide on the House Ways and Means Committee.

The process of passing the law is “still fresh on a lot of folks’ minds,” and Democrats remember how Republicans shut them out, said Andrew Grossman, chief tax counsel of Ways and Means Democrats. Frustration over the process has made the technical corrections process a slow-moving one this Congress.
