Retired Tax Court Judge Herbert Chabot died Oct. 11, the US Tax Court announced Friday.
Chabot, who was appointed by President Jimmy Carter, was sworn in on April 3, 1978 as a Tax Court judge. President Bill Clinton reappointed him, and he was sworn in for his second term on Oct. 20, 1993, according to the court. He assumed senior status in 2001.
He also served on the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation from 1965-78 and as an attorney-adviser to Tax Court Judge Russell E. Train from 1961-65
