Revved-Up Polish Banks Fall as Minister Mulls Various Tax Plans

Revved-up Polish banks are heading for their biggest decline in almost four months after the Finance Ministry said it’s considering “various scenarios” for new levies on the industry.

The WIG-Bank index slumped 3.2% as of 3:20 p.m. in Warsaw, on track for the largest daily drop since April 30. Santander Bank Polska SA fell 4.5%, Bank Pekao SA 3.9%, Alior Bank 2.9% and PKO Bank Polski SA — the country’s biggest lender — slipped 2.6%.
