Rodney King Attorney Gets 18 Months for $7.2 Million Tax Evasion

Milton Grimes, the attorney who represented Rodney King, whose brutal beating by police was famously captured on video, in his high-profile legal battle against the Los Angeles Police Department will serve 18 months for tax evasion.

Grimes was sentenced Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California, months after the IRS charged him with evading $7.2 million in state and federal taxes over 23 years. Judge Stanley Blumenfeld Jr., also ordered him to pay full restitution, to the IRS and to the California Franchise Tax Board.
