Scott Plans Bill to Extend Opportunity Zone Investment Deadline

One of the original authors of the 2017 tax overhaul’s opportunity zone tax breaks said he plans to introduce a bill extending a key deadline for investors before the August recess.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) said he’s working out some disagreements over the legislation with Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), the other original author of the incentives.

“We’re trying to harmonize our approaches,” said Scott, adding that there were no budget hurdles in the way. “It’s just getting us on the same page.”

Scott wouldn’t elaborate on the differences, and Booker’s office didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. ...
