Leftover tax items on Republicans’ to-do lists before the midterms are running into challenging fiscal and political realities.
The Republican Study Committee and the House Budget Committee rolled out a proposal for another partisan tax-and-spending cuts package in recent days. But chief tax writers remain skeptical about taking up more party-line fiscal legislation and have prioritized bipartisan legislation for the rest of the Congress.
