Senate Confirms IRS Chief Counsel Nominee in Bipartisan Vote

Senate lawmakers Thursday confirmed Marjorie Rollinson, President Joe Biden’s pick to lead the IRS chief counsel’s office, by a vote of 56-41, filling the job that’s remained empty since the beginning of his administration.

Six GOP lawmakers voted in favor of Rollinson, who spent most of her career at Ernst & Young LLP but also served a five-year stint in the office she will now lead. Two of those GOP lawmakers—Sens. Bill Cassidy (La.) and Thom Tillis (N.C.).—serve on the tax-writing Senate Finance Committee.
