Senate Confirms Trump Ally as Deputy Secretary at Treasury

The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Michael Faulkender, who implemented a key pandemic-era relief program during the first Trump administration, to be the deputy Treasury secretary.

Faulkender, who was confirmed by a vote of 53-43, takes the No. 2 spot under Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The role is broad, encompassing domestic finance, international affairs, and financial crimes, among other responsibilities.

Faulkender served as assistant secretary of economic policy at Treasury in Trump’s first term.
