The Senate confirmed two top Treasury officials expected to play major roles in tax policy issues.
One, Brent McIntosh, will serve as undersecretary for international affairs at the department. In that role McIntosh, who previously held Treasury’s general counsel position, will help lead negotiations on topics like the digital services taxes that France and the U.K. plan to impose.
McIntosh replaces David Malpass, who left Treasury to head the World Bank earlier this year.
The Senate also confirmed Brian Callanan to replace McIntosh as the department’s general counsel. Callanan was previously the deputy general counsel.
