Senate appropriators aim to mark up their first government funding bill by mid-May, Senate Appropriations Chair Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said, as leaders continue negotiating top-line spending levels for fiscal 2024.
Murray in a brief interview Tuesday said the committee plans to start markups on May 18, and that conversations with Vice Chair Susan Collins (R-Maine) on top-line spending levels are still happening, even as senators increasingly shift their attention to debt-limit talks.
