Senate appropriators passed legislation to keep IRS funding steady, proposing billions more for the agency than the GOP-controlled chamber’s version in the Senate’s Financial Services and General Government bill.
The Senate Appropriations Committee voted unanimously in a 27-0 bipartisan vote to provide $12.3 billion for the agency in fiscal 2025, aimed at helping it improve customer service and modernize technology as it boosts its enforcement capabilities, a legislative summary released Thursday said. The Senate’s legislation pushes back on the House-advanced bill that proposed a $2.2 billion cut compared to this year, mostly in enforcement funding.
