Senate Tax Bill Supporters Scramble for Route to Passage (1)

Senate tax writers are scrambling to save the House-passed business and child tax bill stagnating in the body, debating ways to move it forward.

The bill needs 60 votes to clear the Senate, and there is GOP support for the package, particularly for business breaks prized by corporations. But if it doesn’t have the blessing of Senate Finance Republicans and committee ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), the party may throw up procedural roadblocks to getting a Senate vote.
