Senior Care Group Sues Over $2 Million Tax Levy From Old Owner

The government wrongfully levied $2 million from a California senior care business to recoup taxes from the prior owners of some its facilities, it says.

Asistencia Villa Post Acute LLC sued in the US District Court for the Central District of California for the return of service payments from state and federal agencies, including Medicare, Social Security and Veterans’ Administration payments. The IRS levied these payments to recoup taxes the company says it doesn’t owe.

Asistencia Villa acquired several other skilled care facilities in the state before 2018, and it agreed to pay only the arrearages in quality assurance fees ...
