Judge Halts CFPB Action After Alleged Plans to Delete Database

A federal judge on Friday ordered the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to delay the deletion of data after the agency’s former chief technologist alleged that the Trump administration was about to remove a database with sensitive financial information.

In a declaration filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, former chief technologist and senior adviser Erie Meyer said that the CFPB is privy to a raft of financial information including “supervisory and examination records of financial institutions, enforcement action data, consumer complaints, personal consumer information, and market research records.”
