South African Finance Minister Names Legwaila as Tax Ombudsman

South African Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana appointed Thabo Legwaila as acting tax ombudsman.

Legwaila has been chief executive officer of the Office of the Tax Ombud since April 2020 and was previously head of tax for Africa at Citibank NA. He replaces Bernard Ngoepe, whose term ended Sept. 30.

The tax ombudsman works to resolve taxpayers’ complaints against the South African Revenue Service.
