The South Carolina Governor signed a law to amend the state’s Code of Laws, by removing the requirement that outboard motors be titled while maintaining their registration requirements, making conforming changes to watercraft titling procedures, and providing a property tax exemption for 42.8571 percent of the fair market value of certain watercraft. The law also allows for consolidating tax notices for boats and boat motors, and updates registration procedures for watercraft and outboard motors. The law takes effect Jan. 1, 2027. [H.B. 3858, enacted 04/02/26]
